Orthodontist in Rittman, OH

Home » Orthodontist in Rittman, OH

Rittman families do not have to drive to Wooster or Akron for orthodontic care. Our Wadsworth office at 787 High St is roughly ten minutes north on SR 57, and it is where most Wayne County patients in our practice are seen.

Dietrich Family Orthodontics is a single-doctor family practice that has been treating this area since 1966. Dr. Todd Dietrich, DDS, handles braces, Invisalign® clear aligners, early interceptive care for children, adult cases, and retention personally.

Booking is simple and no dental referral is required. Call (330) 334-1698 or request an appointment online for a complimentary consultation with a full exam included.

Treatments We Provide Rittman, OH Patients

  • Braces. Metal brackets correct the widest range of problems and need no cooperation beyond showing up and avoiding the wrong foods. See our treatment options.
  • Invisalign®. Clear aligner therapy for suitable cases in teens and adults. We will tell you plainly whether your bite is a good candidate. See Invisalign info.
  • Children. First exams around age seven, then monitoring or interceptive appliances as growth dictates. Read early treatment.
  • Teens. Treatment planned around Rittman Exempted Village Schools sports and activities. See for teens.
  • Adults. Late crowding, relapse, and pre-restorative alignment. See for adults.
  • iTero® scanning. Fast digital records with no impression putty. More on the iTero impression system.
  • Retainers and repairs. We build and replace retainers and see breakages promptly. See emergency care.

Living With Braces in a Busy Household

The clinical work is our job; the daily part is yours, and it is easier than most families expect once someone spells it out:

  • Food to skip. Hard candy, ice, popcorn kernels, whole raw carrots, and sticky caramel. Cut apples into slices instead of biting in.
  • Cleaning. Brush after meals and use a floss threader or interdental brush nightly. White spots on enamel come from skipped brushing, not from braces themselves.
  • Soreness. Expect two or three tender days after placement and after each adjustment. Over-the-counter pain relief and softer meals cover it.
  • Sports. Wear an orthodontic mouthguard for anything with contact.
  • Elastics. When we prescribe them, they only work if worn as directed. This is the single biggest factor in finishing on schedule.

Our life with braces page goes further, and our orthodontic FAQs answer most of what comes up in the first month.

Why Wayne County Families Choose Us

  • Continuity of care. One orthodontist follows your case from records to retainer check.
  • Memberships. American Association of Orthodontists, American Dental Association, Ohio Dental Association.
  • Clear costs. Fee, benefits estimate, and monthly payment given at the consultation. See financial information.
  • Small-practice pace. Appointments run on time and the team knows your family without checking notes.
  • A sixty-year track record. Since 1966, with patients who now bring their own children.
  • Prepared visits. Our office visits page tells you exactly what each appointment involves.

Questions from Rittman, OH Patients

Is there an orthodontist office in Rittman?

Our closest location is in Wadsworth, about ten minutes north on SR 57. That is where the majority of our Wayne County patients are seen.

How often are appointments?

Roughly every four to eight weeks for braces and every six to ten weeks for aligners. Routine adjustments are short, so the trip is longer than the visit.

Does the practice take dental insurance?

Yes, we work with most orthodontic benefit plans and file the claims for you. Bring your card and we will verify the coverage while you are here.

My daughter is 15. Is that too late for braces?

No. Fifteen is a common age to start, and treatment often finishes before graduation. Adults do well too, so late is a relative term in orthodontics.

Can we get a monitoring visit without starting treatment?

Absolutely. Many young patients come in once or twice a year while we wait for the right moment, and there is no obligation attached.

What do we do about a poking wire?

Slide it back down with the eraser end of a pencil or a cotton swab, cover it with orthodontic wax, and call (330) 334-1698 for the next available repair slot.

Why an Early Evaluation Often Costs Less Overall

The American Association of Orthodontists puts the first orthodontic exam at age seven, and the reason is economic as much as clinical. At seven the jaws are still growing, and growth is free leverage:

  • Room can be created rather than made. A narrow upper arch widened during growth may avoid extracting permanent teeth later.
  • Crossbites are simplest to correct young. Left alone, a shifted bite can affect how the jaw grows and how evenly teeth wear.
  • Protruding front teeth get protected. Teeth that stick out are the ones that get broken on a playground.
  • Later treatment may be shorter. Interceptive work sometimes reduces the full case that follows, which reduces the fee that follows too.
  • Habits can be addressed before they finish shaping the palate.

The honest caveat: early treatment is not right for most seven-year-olds. Monitoring visits cost you nothing and let us pick the moment instead of guessing at it.

Paying for Treatment Without a Surprise

We quote after the exam, never over the phone, because the fee depends on what your case actually needs. What you leave with is a total figure, an estimate of what your orthodontic benefits will contribute, and the monthly payment for the balance across the treatment period. Orthodontic plans generally carry a lifetime maximum and often an age cutoff for dependents, both of which are worth confirming before you postpone another year. Flexible spending and health savings dollars usually apply. See financial information, or ask at the consultation and we will run the numbers while you are in the room.

If the Drive Is the Obstacle

Routine adjustments here are short, and we will stretch the interval when your case is tracking well rather than calling you in every four weeks by default. Siblings can be scheduled back to back. And before you drive up for a broken bracket, call (330) 334-1698 and describe it. Half the time the answer is wax and a Thursday appointment.

Schedule Your Complimentary Exam

Call Wadsworth at (330) 334-1698, Akron at (330) 864-2101, or request an appointment online. Patients from Rittman, Doylestown, Sterling, Creston, and nearby Ohio communities are welcome at either office.

Bring your questions and your insurance information. You will get a straight assessment, and if the right answer is to wait a year, that is what we will tell you.

We've loved our experience at Dietrich Family Orthodontics. It's truly been remarkable to see the transformation in my daughter's teeth and her confidence. Once she's done I'll be bringing my son here if he also needs orthodontic treatment. The staff is wonderful and the office is run like a well oiled machine. I can't recommend them enough!

My teenage son has been getting braces treatment here for over a year, and I appreciate how respectful the staff stays even when he’s being moody after school. They somehow keep things professional while still making younger patients feel comfortable. One wire snapped while we were out of town, and they gave helpful temporary advice over the phone until we returned. That level of responsiveness honestly made a stressful situation much easier for us.
Deborah F.
I am an adult patient of Dr Dietrich. Dr D and his entire staff have made having orthodontia later in life a fun experience!
