Orthodontist in Doylestown, OH

Home » Orthodontist in Doylestown, OH

Doylestown sits within a fifteen-minute drive of both Dietrich Family Orthodontics offices, with Wadsworth just north on SR 21 and Akron a bit further up. That makes it easy for Chippewa Township families to keep orthodontic appointments without rearranging the whole day.

We are a family practice founded in 1966, and Dr. Todd Dietrich, DDS, is the orthodontist for every patient here. We provide braces, Invisalign® clear aligners, early treatment for growing children, adult orthodontics, and retention.

There is no referral requirement and the first exam is complimentary, so finding out where your child stands costs nothing.

Orthodontic Care for Doylestown, OH

  • Metal braces. The most capable option for bite correction and severe crowding, and the one that does not rely on remembering to put anything back in. See treatment options.
  • Invisalign® clear aligners. Discreet trays for teens and adults whose cases suit them. See Invisalign info.
  • Early orthodontics. Screening near age seven, then either monitoring or a limited appliance. See early treatment.
  • Teen orthodontics. Scheduled around Chippewa Local Schools sports and events. See for teens.
  • Adult orthodontics. Options that fit a working adult, including aligners. See for adults.
  • iTero® digital impressions. Comfortable scanned records in minutes. See the iTero system.
  • Retention and repairs. Retainers built, replaced, and checked, plus emergency care for breakages.

Braces or Clear Aligners? How We Decide

Both appliances move teeth. Choosing between them comes down to three practical questions we work through at your consultation:

  1. What does the bite require? Significant rotations, large gaps to close, and skeletal bite discrepancies generally do better with fixed braces. Mild to moderate crowding and spacing are natural aligner territory.
  2. Who is wearing it? Aligners need 20 to 22 hours of daily wear to work. For a student who loses a water bottle a week, braces are the kinder choice for everyone.
  3. What matters to the patient? Appearance during treatment, food freedom, and visit frequency all pull in different directions, and there is no single right answer.

We give you our recommendation and the reasoning behind it. If both routes are legitimate for your case, we say that too, and you choose.

Doylestown, OH Orthodontic Questions

Which office is closest to Doylestown?

Wadsworth at 787 High St, about fifteen minutes north on SR 21. Akron at 1690 W Exchange St is the alternative when you need a different day of the week.

How much is the first visit?

Nothing. Exam, records, discussion, and the written plan are all complimentary, with no obligation to proceed.

Should we wait until all the baby teeth are out?

No. That is the most common misconception we hear. An exam around age seven lets us catch problems that are far simpler to fix while the jaws are still growing.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes. After we apply your insurance benefits, the remaining balance is split into monthly payments spread across treatment.

How long do aligners take compared to braces?

For similar mild to moderate cases they finish in a comparable window, often 12 to 18 months. Complex cases in braces run longer, typically 18 to 24 months.

Can both of my kids be seen the same morning?

Yes, and we prefer it. Tell us when you book and we will put their appointments back to back.

Why Age Seven Is the Number Orthodontists Use

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends a first evaluation around age seven, which surprises parents who assume orthodontics begins in middle school. By seven the first permanent molars and incisors are usually in, and that is enough to reveal:

  • whether the arches have room for the teeth still to come
  • whether the upper and lower jaws are growing in proportion
  • crossbites, where the bite shifts sideways to close
  • severe protrusion that puts front teeth at risk of injury
  • habits such as thumb sucking that are actively shaping the palate

Most children we see at seven need no appliance. They go on a monitoring schedule, come back once a year, and begin at the point that produces the best result in the least time. The value of the early visit is timing, not treatment.

Retainers: Protecting What You Paid For

Appliances coming off is the milestone; retention is what makes it permanent. Teeth sit in bone and ligament that keep remodeling for the rest of your life, so drift is the default and nightly retainer wear is the correction. We deliver retainers immediately at removal, ask for indefinite nightly wear, and check the fit at annual visits. If a retainer cracks or disappears, call the same week rather than waiting for the next appointment. Retainer instructions cover cleaning, storage, and the mistakes that end in a replacement fee.

Practical Notes for a First Visit

Bring your insurance card, a list of the questions you have actually been wondering about, and, if it is a child, whichever parent will be making the decision. Plan on about an hour. You will get an exam, digital records, a diagnosis in plain language, and a written plan with the fee before you leave. Nothing gets started that day, and nobody will ask you to sign anything on the spot. Our office visits page walks through the sequence if you would rather know in advance.

Call Wadsworth at (330) 334-1698, Akron at (330) 864-2101, or request an appointment online. We treat patients from Doylestown, Chippewa Township, Rittman, Clinton, and neighboring Ohio communities.

We've loved our experience at Dietrich Family Orthodontics. It's truly been remarkable to see the transformation in my daughter's teeth and her confidence. Once she's done I'll be bringing my son here if he also needs orthodontic treatment. The staff is wonderful and the office is run like a well oiled machine. I can't recommend them enough!
Jack S.
My teenage son has been getting braces treatment here for over a year, and I appreciate how respectful the staff stays even when he’s being moody after school. They somehow keep things professional while still making younger patients feel comfortable. One wire snapped while we were out of town, and they gave helpful temporary advice over the phone until we returned. That level of responsiveness honestly made a stressful situation much easier for us.
Deborah F.
I am an adult patient of Dr Dietrich. Dr D and his entire staff have made having orthodontia later in life a fun experience!

Dr. Dietrich was my orthodontist as a little girl and due to not wearing my retainers I’ve returned for Invisalign as an adult. He’s excellent at what he does, kind and professional. I highly recommend him.
