Orthodontist in Medina, OH

Home » Orthodontist in Medina, OH

Medina residents have a short trip to orthodontic care: our Wadsworth office at 787 High St is about fifteen minutes east on SR 162, well inside Medina County. Dietrich Family Orthodontics treats children, teens, and adults with braces, Invisalign® clear aligners, early interceptive care, and retainers.

We are a family practice, not a franchise. Dr. Todd Dietrich, DDS, has been treating patients from Medina County and Summit County since our doors opened in 1966, and he is the orthodontist you will see at every single appointment.

Curious where you stand? Call (330) 334-1698 or request an appointment online and take the complimentary consultation. It includes a full exam and a written plan.

What We Treat for Medina, OH Patients

  • Metal braces. The most predictable option for significant crowding, bite discrepancies, and rotated teeth. Details on our treatment options page.
  • Invisalign® clear aligners. Removable trays for adults and responsible teens who want treatment nobody notices. See Invisalign info.
  • Early treatment. A first exam near age seven catches narrow arches and crossbites while growth can still be steered. Read about early orthodontic treatment.
  • Teen care. Practical planning around Medina City Schools sports and activity calendars. See teen orthodontics.
  • Adult care. Correcting relapse, wear, and long-postponed crowding. See adult orthodontics.
  • iTero® digital impressions. Scanned records instead of trays of putty. More on the iTero scanner.
  • Retention and repairs. New retainers, replacements, and emergency care when something breaks.

Paying for Orthodontics Without Guesswork

Cost is the reason most Medina families delay a consultation, so we handle it directly at the first visit rather than after you commit. Three things go on paper before you decide:

  • The total fee for your case, based on your actual records, not an advertised starting price.
  • Your insurance estimate, after we verify the orthodontic lifetime maximum on your plan and confirm whether your child is still within the eligible age range.
  • The monthly payment for the balance, spread across the treatment period.

Our financial information page has the details, and our team can tell you how flexible spending or health savings dollars usually apply. If the plan does not fit your budget, say so at the consultation; there is often a staging option that does.

Reasons Medina County Families Choose Our Practice

  • The same orthodontist every visit. One doctor plans and monitors the case from records to retainer.
  • Professional memberships. American Association of Orthodontists, American Dental Association, and Ohio Dental Association.
  • Sixty years of local results. Our patient base is now multi-generational, which is the only review that really matters in orthodontics.
  • An office you can get in and out of. Wadsworth appointments run on time, with parking at the door.
  • A prepared first visit. See office visits for what to expect, and meet Dr. Todd Dietrich before you arrive.
  • Two locations. If Akron is easier during a work week, take the appointment there instead.

Medina Area Neighborhoods We See Patients From

  • Medina Square and the downtown historic district
  • Sharon Center and Sharon Township
  • Montville and Lafayette Township
  • Hinckley and Brunswick
  • Seville and Westfield Center
  • Rittman and Chippewa Lake

That includes students from Medina City Schools, Highland Local Schools, and Cloverleaf Local Schools. Siblings can usually be seen back to back so one drive covers everyone.

Frequently Asked Questions from Medina, OH

Do you have an office in Medina itself?

Our nearest location is 787 High St in Wadsworth, roughly fifteen minutes from Medina Square. Our second office is in Akron on W Exchange Street.

Which days is the Wadsworth office open?

Mondays and Thursdays, 7:30am to 5:00pm, with some week-to-week variation. If those days never work, Akron runs four days a week including a Tuesday evening.

Is a dentist referral required?

No. Call us directly. We will still coordinate with your dentist so cleanings and checkups continue on schedule during treatment.

How long will my child be in braces?

Most full cases run 12 to 24 months. The estimate comes from your records at the consultation, and we will tell you honestly if missed elastics or aligner wear is stretching it out.

Are payment plans available?

Yes. We split the balance after insurance into monthly payments across the treatment period, and you will see that number before agreeing to anything.

What counts as an orthodontic emergency?

Very little, honestly. A poking wire or lost bracket is uncomfortable but not urgent. Call (330) 334-1698, use wax on the sharp edge, and we will fit you in quickly.

The Stages of Treatment, Start to Finish

  1. Records and diagnosis. Exam, iTero® scan, and imaging give us the measurements to plan against. This is the visit that produces your written plan and fee.
  2. Alignment. The first phase of active treatment straightens and levels the arches. Progress here is the most visible, which is why patients feel good about month four.
  3. Bite correction. The slower, less visible phase, where elastics and mechanics do the work of matching the upper and lower arches. Cooperation matters most now.
  4. Detailing. Small refinements to individual tooth positions and contacts. Weeks, not months, but it is the difference between adequate and finished.
  5. Removal and retention. Appliances come off, records are taken again, and retainers are delivered right away so nothing drifts in the gap.
  6. Retention checks. Annual visits to confirm the retainer still fits and the result is holding.

Retention Is the Part People Underestimate

The most common reason adults in Medina call us is not a new problem; it is an old result that moved after retainers were abandoned in high school. Teeth are held by ligament and bone that keep remodeling for life, so retention is maintenance rather than a formality. Nightly wear, a case that is not the school cafeteria table, and a quick call when the retainer cracks. That is the whole protocol, and it protects the money you already spent. Retainer instructions spell it out.

Technology That Changes the Experience

Digital scanning replaced impression putty here years ago, which matters for children with a strong gag reflex and for anyone who dreaded that tray. Scans also let us show you the model on screen and talk through the plan while you look at your own teeth. Records stay digital, so both offices see the same file and nothing has to be shipped or remade when you switch locations. Read more on the iTero page.

Request Your Complimentary Consultation

Call our Wadsworth office at (330) 334-1698, our Akron office at (330) 864-2101, or request an appointment online. We welcome patients from Medina, Sharon Center, Seville, Hinckley, Brunswick, and the surrounding Ohio communities.

You will leave the first appointment with a diagnosis, a timeline, and a price, and nobody will call you afterward to pressure a decision. Bring the whole family if that is the simpler trip; we are used to it.

We've loved our experience at Dietrich Family Orthodontics. It's truly been remarkable to see the transformation in my daughter's teeth and her confidence. Once she's done I'll be bringing my son here if he also needs orthodontic treatment. The staff is wonderful and the office is run like a well oiled machine. I can't recommend them enough!
Jack S.
My teenage son has been getting braces treatment here for over a year, and I appreciate how respectful the staff stays even when he’s being moody after school. They somehow keep things professional while still making younger patients feel comfortable. One wire snapped while we were out of town, and they gave helpful temporary advice over the phone until we returned. That level of responsiveness honestly made a stressful situation much easier for us.
Deborah F.
I am an adult patient of Dr Dietrich. Dr D and his entire staff have made having orthodontia later in life a fun experience!
Reese R.
Dr. Dietrich was my orthodontist as a little girl and due to not wearing my retainers I’ve returned for Invisalign as an adult. He’s excellent at what he does, kind and professional. I highly recommend him.
